Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit to my website. I hope to provide you with more information on myself and my childcare service. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you…
I am registered with the Care Inspectorate as a childminder and live in the centre of Milngavie village, Glasgow. I offer a unique, compassionate service with the interests of the child at heart. With an attachment style of care I strive to ensure all children feel safe, valued and happy in a home from home style environment.
With a plethora of activities on my doorstep, children will be able to have stimulating fun outdoors in a safe setting. They will be encouraged to grow and develop through sensory and imaginative play. Indoor activities such as music classes, reading, and crafting will all be tailored to each child’s stage of development to aid in any new skills they are learning. I have a large and bright living room and a playroom in my home with a wide range of toys, books, and activities. Children will be able to take part in relaxing mindfulness exercises and learn baby sign language if desired.
I was last inspected by the Care Inspectorate in May 2018. I was delighted with the results of my first inspection and gained all grade 5’s – very good. You can read my inspection report by visiting www.careinspectorate.com/index.php/care-services and typing in Clare McFarlane into the search bar.
My aim is for children to have a lot of fun and leave my home happy and smiling. I am a member of the SCMA who keep me updated on new legislation and training. I am also fully insured and a member of the PVG scheme. I work closely with parents to ensure my service is as compatible as possible and that the transition between the child’s home and mine is positive for them. All children in my care are valued and treated with the utmost respect.
I am registered to provide a care service for a maximum of six children at any one time under the age of 16, of whom no more than three are not yet attending primary school and of whom no more than one is under 12 months. The numbers are inclusive of my own
family. I am able to provide pick ups/drop-offs to Milngavie nursery and Primary School.

I have lived in Milngavie for over 6 years with my husband, John. I am a mother and our son is 3 years old. I have loved caring for him at home and Milngavie is such a fantastic place to do this. I have a keen interest in early years development, Montessori education and have always wanted to work with children in a creative, nurturing capacity, so childminding seemed perfect. I have lots of experience with different age groups of children through being a mother, looking after my nieces and nephews, and being the oldest sibling in a large family. I am committed and passionate about childcare, excited about the journey it will take me on, and envisage being a childminder for many years to come.
I am an artist and love to draw and paint. I have displayed my work in various exhibitions throughout Glasgow. I am also a musician and composer and have written, recorded and performed on seven studio albums. I have been lucky enough to perform in various venues throughout Scotland including the Royal Panopticon, Traverse Theatre, The Arches and created music for professional Scottish dancers. I will utilize my creative experience to my childminding service. I believe that self expression through channels such as music, art, and dance has a very positive impact on the developing minds of children.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking, reading, walks, and writing music. I am a vegan and have an good knowledge of nutrition and can cater for all allergen requirements. I follow the setting the table guidelines outlined by the Scottish Government. One of the unique strengths of my service is that hearty, vegan meals are included so parents can rest assured their children are receiving tasty, nutritious and exciting plant based meals and snacks each week.
I currently have various vacancies. Please get in touch and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you.
